Chick Lit!

If you love Chick Lit, you shouldn't pass these books by!

Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson

Scarlett’s family owns an old hotel in New York City. At age 15, each sibling in the family has a responsibility for one room, along with its guest. Mrs. Amberson, a wealthy ex-actress who has connections to the theater world stays in the room Scarlett inherits when she reaches her 15th birthday. Will Scarlett be able to save her brother's production of Hamlet while she falls for Eric, her brother's acting partner. This book has lots of humor and is a sophisticated book for those 8th graders who love the theater, art and music, or just a great romance!

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks by E. Lockhart

Frankie attends a private boarding school and rises above her “geekiness” to date a popular senior. She finds out that he is involved in the Loyal Order of the Basset Hounds, an all-male secret society. She is able to sneak around and listen to their meetings and she tries to solve the riddle as to where their handbook, the Disreputable History, is. Does the secret song of the society have the key to the riddle she is trying to solve? Frankie makes up her own words. She may take the word "disguntled" and use its opposite and say she is feeling gruntled if she is happy. This is a great romance/mystery for grade 8th students.

Beauty Shop for Rent is a great book for all girls. It's about this girl named Abbey who lives with her great grandmother, Granny Po. But what happens when Abbey's mother calls her after years of not hearing from her?

I would love to read Beauty Shop for Rent. I found it the other day in the library but I did not check it out. I looked again yesterday and it was not there. So next time I find it I’m definitely checking it out!

Wow! Thank you very much. Also, I'm having a hard time trying to find a book that will keep me interested. Are there any suggestions for books that you really liked?

Hi Kara,

If you like Chick Lit, some books you might enjoy are Scribbler of Dreams by Mary Pearson, Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen, Lily B. on the Brink of Cool by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, the Mates, Dates series by Cathy Hopkins and Girl, 15 Charming But Insane by Sue Limb, (this last one is in a series). Come by sometime and check out one of these books, if any of them sound interesting to you. Let me know what you think about what you ended up reading. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Kara, a good book that I read over the summer was The Kind of Friends We Used to Be. Its about two girls that used to be best friends and now their interests have set them apart. Its also about how they try to fix it.
